About The Position

Saskatoon Co-op is seeking a Full-Time Payroll Administrator Representative to join their team. This role is responsible for a variety of payroll administration functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with collective bargaining agreements and payroll deadlines. The successful candidate will work closely with Team Leaders and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and provide timely payroll information. Saskatoon Co-op is a member-owned business focused on serving its members and communities through various products and services, including grocery, liquor, pharmacy, petroleum, home and building solutions, and agricultural supplies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of payroll, administrative, or office experience.
  • Courses Required: Introductory Financial Accounting I and II.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective planning and organizational abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation, or an equivalent payroll certification, is considered an asset.
  • Experience with timekeeping and payroll systems, and financial software is considered an asset.
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Review payroll timecards for assigned divisions, identifying incomplete or inaccurate entries and working with Team Leaders to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with Collective Bargaining Agreements and payroll deadlines.
  • Prepare and respond to payroll- and benefits-related service tickets.
  • Process historical payroll adjustments affecting employee pay and benefit entitlements.
  • Calculate and enter statutory pay entitlements, retroactive wage adjustments, and vacation entitlement conversions.
  • Maintain payroll spreadsheets related to new hires, transfers, terminations, Records of Employment (ROEs), vacation requests, bus pass deductions, and benefit deductions; and prepare associated templates for upload to FCL.
  • Generate and reconcile pre- and post-payroll reports to ensure payroll accuracy and balance.
  • Prepare manual cheques and journal entries as required following payroll processing.
  • Provide timely and accurate payroll information and support all relevant stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to apply specific directions while meeting strict payroll deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
