About The Position

Hopewell Federal Credit Union has a great opportunity for a Part-Time Payroll & Accounting Specialist in our Heath office - come join our team! Responsible for coordinating a wide range of payroll and accounting support duties in accordance with a balanced 3-stakeholder model (the credit union, its members, and our associates). These duties include, but are not limited to, processing payroll, 401k audits, benefit audits, and accounts payable. Opening duties; running ongoing reports, mail runs, managing postage and printer supplies and maintenance. Maintains confidentially and data security with all payroll and accounting files. The ideal candidate will have payroll and accounts payable experience, possess excellent interpersonal, telephone and written skills and have a knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office. Position Role: To assist the CFO in the daily operations of the Accounting Department. Essential Duties: Completes Payroll and 401k matching totals bi-weekly and ensures that all payroll and accounting processes are effective and legally compliant. Assists staff to complete daily tasks necessary for the Credit Union's operations. Understands all of the roles within the department and is able to perform basic duties. Responsible for providing assistance to auditors/examiners on year-end and comprehensive audits as needed. Ensures all payroll records, including timecards, sick leave, vacation time, overtime, insurance premiums and tax forms are properly maintained and preserved. Stays current with changes and industry trends as it pertain to job functions and duties. Adheres to all rules and regulations set forth by management, vendors and supervisory agencies. Performs other duties as assigned by the CFO

Requirements

  • Payroll and Accounts Payable experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, telephone and written skills
  • Knowledge and competency in Microsoft Office
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, along with the ability to keep information to a need-to-know basis
  • Individual needs to be a self-starter, demonstrate initiative, team oriented, displays a positive attitude, strong customer service attitude, good interpersonal skills, strong researcher and problem-solver
  • Strong PC skills, experienced MS Office user (most importantly MS Word and Excel)
  • Functional with spreadsheets and word processing software
  • Strong understanding of fundamentals of accounting and accounting procedures
  • Must be able to work up to 30 hours a week, Monday through Friday
  • Must have excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to establish and maintain a positive, professional image to credit union members and coworkers

Nice To Haves

  • Minimal: two-year college degree, preferred or Payroll and accounts payable experience required in lieu of degree
