About The Position

Join the Chimes team and help make an impact through accurate financial stewardship. As our Payroll Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing and posting payroll-related journal entries, reviewing payroll taxes and ensuring timely and accurate tax payments, and reviewing federal and state payroll tax filings for accuracy and compliance. You will also post payroll activity to the general ledger, reconcile payroll bank accounts and assigned general ledger accounts, and prepare payroll accruals and month-end journal entries. This role assists with month-end close activities and financial reporting, performs payroll-related variance analysis, and supports internal and external audits. Additionally, you will process state unemployment payments for multiple entities and assist with other accounting and finance projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll accounting.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills with advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines, especially during month-end close.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
