About The Position

Austin Bridge & Road is hiring experienced Paving Machine Screed Operators for projects in North Phoenix, Arizona. The role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating and adjusting the screed to produce a level asphalt surface. Operators perform equipment inspections and maintenance, configure the screed to project specifications, troubleshoot paving issues, and support the paving crew as needed. Work hours vary with project needs and may include days, nights, and weekends, and the job may involve adverse weather and hot or cold temperatures.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience operating asphalt equipment.
Strong commitment to jobsite safety and diligence in demonstrating safe work practices.
Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship or transfer is not available.

Responsibilities

Perform daily equipment maintenance and inspections.
Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
Clean and properly adjust the screed before and after each shift for the type of paving to be completed.
Monitor temperature settings.
Adjust screed paving reference components to project specifications, including paving width, depth, grade, and slope.
Ensure proper contact between gates and the paving surface.
Adjust endgate springs and chains for clearance.
Troubleshoot problems and make necessary screed adjustments during asphalt paving operations.
Install and remove electronic grade control.
Assist the paving crew with site preparation and other activities as needed.
Contribute as a team member to the company's success.
Attend daily safety meetings and follow safety policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
