Requirements

2 years of industrial or civil construction or equivalent experience.
Previous experience operating roller equipment or similar machinery in asphalt paving required.
Knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and industry best practices.
CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, and Ground Disturbance 201 are required.
Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
A valid class 5 or better driver's license is required.
A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
An outgoing and optimistic personality.
Strong communication skills.
Must be willing to work overtime, when necessary.
Must comply with all company policies.
A reliable means of transportation is required.
Proficient English language skills required.
Completion of high school or equivalent is required.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends on various schedules.
A successful pre-access drug and Alcohol test may be required depending on the project.

Responsibilities

Operate self-propelled steel-wheeled, rubber-tired, vibrator, segmented or other type of roller to compact earth, subgrade, sub-base and asphalt surfaces.
Distribute, break down, compress and give a finished surface to cooling asphalt.
Handle and distribute construction materials to and from work areas.
Determine speed and direction of machine based on knowledge of compressibility of materials under changing temperature.
Push hand roller and pound surfaces, using hand tamp, or guide portable power roller over areas not accessible to road roller.
Other duties as required.
