About The Position

Northwest Contracting has been providing professional services to Alaska and other regions of the world for more than 30 years. We are your first choice for asphalt and concrete marking, cutting and maintenance in the State of Alaska. Northwest Contracting is DBE/8A certified and is owned by Bering Straits Native Corporation.

This position involves working alongside a team to prep, layout, and operate equipment for grooving runways, cutting concrete/asphalt, and applying surface and inlaid pavement markings. The job requires individuals to be physically capable of standing, walking, and working on hard surfaces for full shifts, and to repeatedly lift and carry 50 lbs. The work environment includes outdoor conditions, potential inclement weather, and working around equipment with hazardous materials. Travel will be required.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 18 years of age or older
• Experienced in the construction industry and knowledge of skills specific to road and runway job execution.
• Ability to get along with other people - Team player.
• Must be physically able to be on your feet, standing, walking, and working on hard concrete and tire floors for full shifts.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50# repeatedly, safely, and without unusual strain.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results.
• If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.

Nice To Haves

• Well versed in MMA and other traffic markings systems.

Responsibilities
