About The Position

Operates the Pavement Management System (PMS), manages data quality control checks of vendor-collected pavement condition data, and assists in the development and implementation of the Asset Management Plan (AMP). This role involves reviewing engineering plans and the Five-Year Transportation Facilities Construction Program, interpreting cost estimates, analyzing complex multidimensional data to predict performance, recognizing and resolving errors in datasets, writing Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio scripts, and conducting life-cycle cost analyses. The position provides statewide technical support for Asset Management and Pavement Preservation programs. This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. Requirements

  • Principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to design, development, construction and maintenance of the state highway system.
  • Federal and state statutes, agency standards, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to AASHTO, ASTM, FHWA specifications.
  • Safety and public relations practices.
  • Methods, procedures and techniques utilized in management of assigned resources
  • Computer applications as they pertain to area of assignment (Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, ArcGIS, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).

  • Arizona PE Licensure is required for this position. A candidate who holds an active PE in another state will be required to meet registration requirements set forth by the Arizona Technical Board of Registration and attain an Arizona PE from the Board within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable 39 month MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the Pavement Management System software.
  • Supports the Pavement Design team as needed.
  • Responds to data requests from a variety of stakeholders.
  • Utilize ArcGIS, Microsoft SQL and Excel for data analysis.
  • Writes documents and creates charts/diagrams/ presentations as needed.
  • Works with contractor and GIS team on quality checks of contractor collected pavement condition survey data.
  • Establishes quality check procedures after collection.
  • Import and analyze pavement condition data in ArcGIS and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Provides technical support for Asset Management including consistency report analysis & documentation, life cycle cost analysis for the AMP and the Long-Range Transportation Plan.
  • Performs analysis utilizing the Pavement Management System and assists with development of the AMP update.
  • Attends professional work seminars, meetings, and conferences to represent ADOT.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert and provides feedback on research projects as needed.
