About The Position

We are seeking a Pavement Laboratory Manager to join our growing team in support of our federal program. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to impactful, mission-critical initiatives.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of pavement materials testing and laboratory operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and CCRL testing standards.
  • Experience maintaining AASHTO laboratory accreditation and quality systems.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and quality assurance.
  • Strong leadership and laboratory management skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to supervise laboratory personnel and coordinate multiple testing projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • 10 years of laboratory and pavement materials engineering experience.
  • Experience managing accredited materials testing laboratories.
  • Experience with laboratory accreditation programs and quality management systems.
  • Proven ability to work in fast-paced, client-focused environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence required
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting airport, or transportation research programs preferred.
  • Experience supporting federal programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day operation and management of the NextGen Materials Laboratory.
  • Maintain AASHTO Accreditation Program (AAP) accreditation and coordinate all accreditation activities.
  • Ensure laboratory testing complies with ASTM, AASHTO, CCRL, and laboratory quality requirements.
  • Manage laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Develop laboratory testing schedules supporting FAA research projects.
  • Coordinate laboratory assessments, inspections, proficiency testing, and accreditation of renewals.
  • Supervise laboratory operations, testing activities, and laboratory personnel.
  • Maintain laboratory quality records, calibration documentation, and equipment history.
  • Oversee laboratory safety programs, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Health & Safety documentation.
  • Coordinate laboratory support for NAPTF and NAPMRC research activities.
  • Recommend improvements to laboratory operations, testing procedures, and quality systems.
  • Provide support and expertise in assigned domain.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to security, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
  • Special projects as needed.
