About The Position

Waukesha County's DPW-Hwy Operations is seeking skilled and motivated Class A CDL drivers to join their dynamic team. This role involves contributing to the improvement and maintenance of vital roadways, working outdoors, and ensuring safe and efficient roads. Patrol Workers may be called upon to respond to emergency situations and must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor under variable weather conditions, operate various trucks and equipment, and maintain effective working and public relations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Valid Wisconsin Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire.
  • Ability to pass work/education/certification reference(s), a criminal background and driver's license check, and a Physical Exam consisting of a hearing test, physical, DOT Drug Test, musculoskeletal evaluation, and TB Assessment.
  • Possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in maintenance and repair of roads and the operation of a variety of trucks and equipment.
  • Class A CDL highly preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderate to heavy manual labor for extended periods under variable weather conditions.
  • Operate a variety of trucks and equipment necessary for the maintenance and repair of roads and rights-of-way.
  • Establish and maintain effective working and public relations with co-workers, the public, vendors and outside agencies.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as snowstorms, windstorms, flooding, traffic accidents, fires.
