About The Position

The Police Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the jurisdiction of the Bristol Township Police Department. This position involves a combination of proactive patrolling, emergency response, criminal investigations, community engagement, and aiding the public. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history check, polygraph examination, and psychological evaluation.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Sound judgment, critical thinking skills, and the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
Physical fitness and agility to perform the duties of a police officer, including running, lifting, and engaging in physical confrontations when necessary.
A willingness to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to meet operational demands.
Commitment to upholding the principles of ethical conduct, integrity, and professionalism in law enforcement.
Pass the fitness evaluation to advance to the written exam.
Completion of the Standard MPOETC Fitness Requirements: Sit-ups, 300 meter run, Push-ups, 1.5-mile run.

Responsibilities

Patrol designated areas within the jurisdiction to deter crime, enforce laws, and ensure public safety.
Respond promptly to emergency calls, accidents, disturbances, and other incidents requiring police intervention.
Conduct thorough investigations of criminal activities, accidents, and incidents, including collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports.
Arrest and process suspects in accordance with legal procedures, ensuring the protection of suspects' rights and adherence to departmental policies.
Enforce traffic laws, conduct traffic stops, and investigate traffic accidents to ensure the safe flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Engage with the community through proactive outreach initiatives, public education programs, and participation in community events to build trust and foster positive relationships.
Assist individuals in distress, provide guidance and support to victims of crime, and refer individuals to appropriate social services as needed.
Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, government agencies, and community organizations to address public safety concerns and implement crime prevention strategies.
Maintain proficiency in the use of firearms, defensive tactics, and other law enforcement equipment through regular training and certification.
Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including attending training sessions, seminars, and workshops to enhance job-related knowledge and skills.
Serve as a positive role model for fellow officers and always uphold the values and ethics of the police department.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervising officers or departmental leadership.
