About The Position

Gunnison County is looking for Patrol Deputies who combine sound judgment, composure, and compassion with the ability to act decisively when it matters. Our deputies serve more than 3,200 square miles—from mountain highways and close-knit communities to remote backcountry and major events. That means being a Patrol Deputy here isn't about doing the same thing every shift. You'll have the opportunity to practice well-rounded law enforcement, take on broad responsibility, know the community you serve, and work alongside a close professional team. If you're looking for a law-enforcement career where your experience, judgment, and contribution are visible, we want to talk with you. Patrol Deputies perform a broad range of law-enforcement and public-safety responsibilities throughout Gunnison County. The work requires sound judgment, communication, adaptability, professionalism, and the ability to make decisions independently while remaining part of a close team. Working in a large rural county gives deputies exposure to a wide variety of law-enforcement responsibilities. One shift may look very different from the next. Our deputies serve communities, highways, rural areas, public lands, major events, and remote parts of the County. The position provides opportunities to strengthen your skills across patrol, investigations, traffic enforcement, emergency response, community interaction, and interagency operations.
