About The Position

The Patient Transporter is responsible for the safe and efficient transport of patients, equipment, and supplies within the hospital. This role involves communicating with various departments to understand their transport needs, interacting with patients and customers to ensure their needs are met, and maintaining knowledge of the hospital's physical layout. The transporter will use the Tele-Tracking System for data entry and dispatch information, and must adhere to proper body mechanics for lifting and moving patients. Additionally, they must understand and utilize the Patient Identification and Alert Process, and pass fit testing for an N95 mask. This role also includes performing other assigned duties, complying with all policies and standards, and ensuring the safe and secure maintenance of Protected Health Information (PHI).

Requirements

High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
Must use proper body mechanics for lifting and/or moving patients.
Understands and uses the Patient Identification and Alert Process.
Must pass fit testing for N95 mask.

Nice To Haves

less than 1 year Basic patient care experience (Preferred)
Knowledge and handling of transport equipment (beds, wheelchairs, carts, oxygen) (Preferred proficiency)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Provides safe efficient transport of patients, equipment, and miscellaneous supplies.
Performs transport duties as needed and assist in training new hires.
Communicates with other departments to assess their transport needs.
Required to interact with patients and customers to ensure patient/Customers’ needs are met.
Must be oriented to physical layout of the hospital and locations of patient testing areas.
Performs data entry and receives dispatch information via Tele-Tracking System.
Must use proper body mechanics for lifting and/or moving patients.
Understands and uses the Patient Identification and Alert Process.
Must pass fit testing for N95 mask.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
