The Patient Transporter is responsible for transporting patients to and from various locations safely and in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. This role also involves maintaining transportation equipment according to department standards for cleanliness and proper functioning. The position requires prioritizing patient transports, resolving associated patient care issues, and transferring patients independently to various locations, including the morgue. Adherence to departmental productivity standards and the consistent use of appropriate body mechanics are essential. The transporter will also maneuver patient transport-related equipment and supplies, greet patients pleasantly, explain the purpose of transport, and communicate effectively with hospital personnel and family members. Verification of patient identity and destination, use of safe techniques and proper equipment, and adherence to infection control protocols are critical. The role includes signing patients in and out, recognizing and responding to emergencies, attending CPR classes, knowing equipment locations, reporting defective equipment, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and completing required paperwork accurately and timely. The position also involves maintaining personal productivity statistics and demonstrating a commitment to the mission and values of Trinity Health, including ethical conduct and customer service.
