About The Position

The Patient Transporter transports patients and equipment throughout the facility. The role supports patient transfers and repositioning, delivers equipment to staff, and assists with transporting deceased bodies to the morgue. The transporter also greets patients and visitors and provides information and directions. Patients may be transported by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or neuro chair, including patients using oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment.

The position requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment. No prior work experience is required. A Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification is required within 30 days of hire. This is a part-time evening position at Memorial Healthcare System in Miramar, Florida.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association, required within 30 days of hire.
• No prior work experience required.
• Critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transferring them to or from wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Assist staff with lift assists and repositioning patients when needed.
• Deliver equipment to requesting staff or departments.
• Assist staff with removing deceased bodies from units and transporting them to the morgue.
• Greet patients and visitors and provide information and directions.
• Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or neuro chair to designated locations, including patients using oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment.
