About The Position

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Patient Transporter transports patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or other appropriate means. The role includes disconnecting and reconnecting patients’ IV pumps from the IV pole and oxygen, and delivering patient equipment to nursing floors as needed. This is a part-time position at Elmhurst Hospital for 28 hours per week, with overnight hours from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. It includes every other weekend and a rotating holiday schedule.

Requirements

High school diploma.
American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
At least six months of customer service or patient transporter experience.
Ability to lift more than 50 pounds, carry 80 pounds a distance of 30 feet, and push or pull more than 200 pounds.
Ability to perform lateral transfers or maximum-assist sit-to-stand transfers.
