This role involves safely transporting patients/residents to and from their inpatient/resident beds to other areas and ancillary departments, and retrieving medical records, prescriptions and other clinical documentation for patients/residents as requested. The job requires removing and replacing medical devices, and lifting or assisting in lifting patients/residents to gurneys, wheelchairs or other devices to facilitate transport. Additionally, the role includes inspecting and performing minor maintenance on transportation tools and devices, documenting and requesting other maintenance as needed, and complying with enterprise guidelines and policies of health, safety, and security. Familiarity with medical terms and certain pieces of medical equipment is necessary. Responsibilities may also include changing or transporting linens, assisting in transporting specimens, documents, or patient/resident possessions, and assisting with discharge processing of inpatient/resident rooms.
