About The Position

Transports patients, specimens, and equipment throughout the facility. This role requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work under minimal supervision in a stressful environment. The Patient Transporter will assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles, provide continuous oxygen to patients, deliver equipment and specimens, and assist with the removal of deceased bodies. The position also involves greeting and providing information to patients and visitors.

Requirements

• Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Works under minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 2 years relevant experience preferred.
• High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed to designated sites as requested, including patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment.
• Provides continuous oxygen to patients by setting the oxygen tanks to the same level already being provided.
• Assists patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfer from or to wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Delivers equipment and specimens to requesting team members or department.
• Assists team members with removal of deceased bodies from units and transport to morgue.
• Greets and provides information and direction to patients and visitors.
