About The Position

The Patient Transporter transports patients and equipment throughout the facility. The role requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. No prior experience is required. New hires must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification required within 30 days of hire; accepted certification formats listed include an American Heart Association BLS E-Card or BLS certificate.
• Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or neuro chair to designated locations, including patients using oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, monitors, and other equipment.
• Assist patients with entering and exiting vehicles, including transfers to or from wheelchairs and stretchers.
• Greet patients and visitors and provide information and directions.
• Deliver equipment to requesting staff or departments.
• Assist staff with removing deceased patients from units and transporting them to the morgue.
• Assist staff with patient lift assists and repositioning when needed.
