The Patient Transporter, Lead is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care within Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. This role involves establishing work assignments, dispatching Patient Transporters, performing safety inspections, and utilizing the Radiology Information Computer System (EPIC). The Lead Patient Transporter is expected to adhere to Service Excellence Standards, exhibit excellent customer relations, and demonstrate courteous communication skills. They will work as a team to continuously improve work quality, confirm patient identification, and document equipment malfunctions. Additionally, this role involves making recommendations for equipment needs, assisting nursing staff with transport modes, maintaining department policies, and assisting with new hire interviews and supply orders. The Lead Patient Transporter must also recognize and respond to emergency situations, ensure proper handling of patient's IV and medical devices, assist with patient movement, clean and repair transport equipment, fill oxygen tanks, and utilize proper isolation techniques. Proficiency in relaying clinical information and assisting patients with various equipment is essential. The role also requires attending in-services and meetings, communicating equipment issues and inventory levels, rotating call, presenting a positive image, and demonstrating flexibility in scheduling. Cross-training may also be required.
