Requirements

  • High School Degree
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
  • Strong Verbal Communication and Writing Skills
  • Ability to Pass a CPR Course
  • Ability to Effectively use a Two Way Radio
  • Up to 1 year experience in a related field
  • Know and practice all basic hospital safety policies
  • Show evidence of efficient time management and sound basic knowledge of patient needs for comfort and safety during transport.
  • Trained in CPR
  • Responsible for the handling/transporting of medication.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the transportation of patients to and from various areas, including but not limited to nursing units, procedure areas, testing areas, therapy, and laboratory areas.
  • Provides assistance to patients arriving and departing from the hospital, specimens, supplies, medication, and other related items to appropriate hospital and clinical locations.
  • Assists in the physical movement of patients to and from bed and/or equipment.
  • Carries out transport and equipment assignments under general supervision.
  • Exhibits professional image and behavior toward patients, visitors, physicians, and employees, creating a positive impression consistent with professional etiquette.
  • Accepts the next assignment on floor or in a timely manner after completing an assignment. Does not go idle wasting time in-between runs.
  • Is always approachable while being addressed by the dispatcher/lead with other duties as assigned and clocks in/out and breaks in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates patient and supply movement within the time standard set by this department.
  • Transports patients and supplies to and from various destinations observing department policies and procedures.
  • Exhibits Service Excellence set by TriHealth and laid out in the Service Standards Agreements.
  • Acts as a good steward in terms of care and condition of equipment and supplies.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment per departmental policy, following infection control guidelines.
  • Works to maintain the integrity and functioning of equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of clean and sterile procedures in the use of medical equipment.
  • Welcome everyone by making eye contact, greeting with a smile, and saying "hello".
  • Acknowledge when patients/guests are lost and escort them to their destination or find someone who can assist.
  • Refrain from using cell phones for personal reasons in public spaces or patient care areas.
  • Recognize and take personal responsibility to address and recover from service breakdowns when a customer's expectations have not been met.
  • Offer patients and guests priority when waiting (lines, elevators).
  • Work on improving quality, safety, and service.
  • Respect cultural and spiritual differences and honor individual preferences.
  • Respect everyone’s opinion and contribution, regardless of title/role.
  • Speak positively about my team members and other departments in front of patients and guests.
  • Value the time of others by striving to be on time, prepared and actively participating.
  • Pick up trash, ensuring the physical environment is clean and safe.
  • Be a good steward of our resources, using supplies and equipment efficiently and effectively, and will look for ways to avoid waste.
  • Acknowledge wins and frequently thank team members and others for contributions.
  • Show courtesy and compassion with customers, team members and the community.
