About The Position

Transports patients of all populations to and from examinations and treatments. Performs general errands and routine duties, including cleaning equipment, securing supplies, and other tasks as required. Acts as a team member in delivering quality patient care and follows unit procedures wherever transport services are rendered.

This full-time position is based at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The schedule is 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with on-call weekends. The role is scheduled for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for transport and perform passive and active identification to confirm patients are properly identified before transport.
• Transport patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and high-risk Intensive Care Unit areas.
• Communicate with medical employees to ensure required medical supplies and medications are transported with patients, including administering oxygen when required.
• Support timely patient discharges throughout the hospital.
• Under the direction of medical employees and/or a Registered Nurse, assist with toileting ambulatory patients.
• Clean and disinfect equipment according to established policies and procedures.
• Maintain clean work areas and return equipment to the appropriate department.
• Report malfunctioning equipment or instruments to appropriate department or unit staff.
• Perform general errands and routine duties, including securing supplies and other tasks as required.
• Follow unit procedures and contribute as a team member to quality patient care.
