About The Position

Join the Patient Transport Team at Anna Jaques Hospital, a not-for-profit community hospital in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and part of Beth Israel Lahey Health. This per-diem role transports patients and materials throughout the hospital, supports clinical staff, maintains transport equipment, and may provide storeroom coverage as needed. Coverage is needed for shifts of 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, and 2:00 PM–10:00 PM. Availability for at least 2–3 days per week is required, including weekdays and weekends. The listed base hourly pay range is $17.00–$22.88. Beth Israel Lahey Health requires staff to be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.

Requirements

Availability for at least 2–3 days per week, including weekdays and weekends.
AHA Heart Saver AED or BLS certification.
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

Transport patients to and from clinical, ancillary, and support areas using wheelchairs, stretchers, and patient beds, including patients using oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips, and other special equipment.
Assist clinical staff with safely transferring patients to and from beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
Collect and deliver specimens, orders, requisitions, and equipment to the appropriate destinations.
Maintain transport equipment and promptly report malfunctions.
Monitor the surrounding environment for unsafe situations or equipment and report issues to the appropriate person.
Prioritize duties and adapt to changes in work volume, emergencies, and staffing needs with self-motivation, flexibility, and cooperation.
Work closely with clinical staff to support positive patient outcomes.
Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Retrieve, deliver, and maintain stretchers, wheelchairs, infusion pumps, and precaution carts.
Deliver medications from the pharmacy on a routine schedule.
Perform storeroom clerk duties as needed, including answering phones, delivering supplies, processing incoming stock, and providing after-business-hours coverage, including holidays.
