About The Position

Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is seeking Full-time Patient Transport Technicians in Peoria. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization providing emergency and scheduled ambulance and patient transport services. As a patient transport technician, you will be responsible for ensuring compassionate, safe, and efficient transfer between facilities for adult behavioral health patients. You will be part of the Illinois Patient Transfer (IPT) team, supporting hospitals, patients, and families across the state. This role is based in Peoria and involves shift rotations with variable hours during the week and alternating weekends. Transports are assigned throughout scheduled shift hours, and it is common for technicians to work past their scheduled shift end times.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s license required
  • Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 25 pounds (subject to physical exam)
  • Successful completion of AMTs Management of Aggressive Behavior Training

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of all patients as assigned to his/her for transportation.
  • Provide de-escalation techniques and aggression preventative strategies when necessary.
  • Assist the healthcare facility staff in escorting the patient and their belongings to and from the vehicle at both originating and receiving facilities.
  • Assure the accuracy and completeness of all company and patient contact paperwork.
  • Be responsible for all equipment and supplies as specified on company vehicle check-off sheets and inventory requirements.
  • Maintains current, State of Illinois driver’s license according to provisions set forth by the Illinois Secretary of State and Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Help promote a positive company image.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned.
