About The Position
Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is seeking a Full-time Patient Transport Technician for the Illinois Patient Transfer (IPT) team in Peoria. This role is responsible for ensuring compassionate, safe, and efficient transfers between facilities for adult behavioral health patients. The IPT team supports hospitals, patients, and families across the state. This position is based in Peoria and involves variable shifts and hours, including alternating weekends. Technicians should expect to work beyond scheduled shift end times as transports are assigned throughout the shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s license required.
- Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 25 pounds and pushing a wheelchair with up to a 350 pound patient (subject to physical exam).
- Successful completion of AMTs Management of Aggressive Behavior Training.
Responsibilities
- Supervision of all patients as assigned for transportation.
- Provide de-escalation techniques and aggression preventative strategies when necessary.
- Assist healthcare facility staff in escorting the patient and their belongings to and from the vehicle at both originating and receiving facilities.
- Assure the accuracy and completeness of all company and patient contact paperwork.
- Be responsible for all equipment and supplies as specified on company vehicle check-off sheets and inventory requirements.
- Maintain current, State of Illinois driver’s license according to provisions set forth by the Illinois Secretary of State and Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times.
- Help promote a positive company image.
