About The Position

UCI Health is a large academic health system in California, part of the University of California, Irvine. It includes multiple hospitals and a network of ambulatory care centers. UCI Health is recognized for its comprehensive cancer center, Level I trauma center, geriatric emergency department, and burn center. It serves a large population across several counties through patient care, research, and medical education. The Patient Transport Supervisor, reporting to the Capacity Manager, is responsible for the daily leadership, oversight, and operational coordination of the Lift and Transport Team. This includes training, evaluations, timekeeping, counseling, and corrective actions. The supervisor acts as a working leader, assisting the team with patient handling and ensuring efficient patient movement throughout the facility by monitoring workflow, anticipating and mitigating transport delays, and prioritizing assignments. A key aspect of this role is promoting a culture of safe patient handling to protect patients and create a healthy work environment for care providers.

Requirements

  • Understanding of basic medical terminology
  • Skill to perform basic mathematical computations, and to use general office equipment including computers, copiers, and calculators
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must be proficient in Epic transport systems
  • Must be available to work overtime as patient care needs demand
  • Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English
  • Minimum one year experience in a healthcare environment or training in a healthcare/emergency/rescue field
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
  • Current BLS certification required by time of hire
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization
