About The Position

The Patient Transport Driver plays a vital role in supporting Bethany Children’s Health Center’s mission by ensuring patients have safe and reliable access to specialized care beyond our hospital walls. This position is responsible for the timely, safe, and compassionate transportation of pediatric patients to and from external medical appointments, procedures, and other facilities. As part of the Patient Navigation team, this role helps remove barriers to care and supports continuity throughout the patient’s journey. The Transport Driver serves patients, families, and staff with professionalism, dignity, and respect while safely operating transport vehicles.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record required.
  • CPR Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in healthcare, medical transport, or EMS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe, timely, and compassionate transportation of patients to and from external appointments and procedures, including transporting approved family members and staff.
  • Ensures a clean, professional, and respectful environment at all times.
  • Assists patients with entering and exiting the vehicle, including use of wheelchairs and safe operation of vehicles equipped with electric lift systems.
  • Ensures proper patient securement and attention to mobility devices and approved medical supports within scope.
  • Coordinates effectively with Patient Navigation, hospital staff, patients and families to ensure timely arrivals, clear communication, and continuity of care.
  • Communicates delays, barriers, or patient concerns promptly.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with team members, patients, and families while supporting the mission and values of Bethany Children’s Health Center.
  • Maintains vehicle and equipment readiness by performing routine inspections, ensuring cleanliness, stocking necessary supplies, and reporting mechanical or safety concerns immediately.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and confidentiality practices, including HIPAA.
  • Maintains required certifications and completes continuing education.
  • Other duties as assigned.
