About The Position

Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is seeking a full-time Patient Transport Technician in Springfield, IL. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization providing emergency and scheduled ambulance and patient transport services. As a patient transport technician, you will be responsible for ensuring compassionate, safe, and efficient transfer between facilities for adult behavioral health patients. This role is part of the Illinois Patient Transfer (IPT) team, supporting hospitals, patients, and families across the state. The position is based in Springfield and involves variable shifts/hours during the week and alternating weekends. Transports are assigned throughout the scheduled shift hours, and technicians often work past their scheduled shift end times.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Valid Illinois Driver’s license required
Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 25 pounds and pushing a wheelchair with up to a 350 pound patient (subject to physical exam)
Successful completion of AMTs Management of Aggressive Behavior Training

Responsibilities

Supervise patients during transportation
Provide proper de-escalation and aggression prevention techniques as required
Assist facility staff with escorting both the patient and belongings to and from the vehicle
Maintain current State of Illinois driver's license
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Present and promote a positive company image
