About The Position

Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Patient Transport Dispatcher manages and coordinates all patient, visitor, and equipment transport requests throughout the hospital. Using the Transport Command Center and related applications, the Dispatcher assigns and monitors transport activities to ensure timely, efficient, and safe movement of patients and resources. This role also answers incoming calls, resolves inquiries, and provides positive customer service with each interaction. The Dispatcher functions as a shift leader by coordinating team member breaks and lunches, conducting huddles, providing support to transporters, addressing complex issues, and assisting with conflict resolution. The role also maintains and issues transport mobile devices, ensuring functionality and availability. The Dispatcher serves as a liaison between Patient Transport and other departments and is responsible for upholding Tampa General Hospital's mission, vision, values, and service excellence standards.

Requirements

• 12 months of experience in a hospital setting OR 6 months of patient transporting experience.
• Ability to accurately follow oral and written instructions.
• Proficiency with computers.
• First Aid and CPR/AED certified.
• Ability to push and pull 35lbs.
