About The Position

This position is responsible for the patient flow throughout radiology/transportation services. This involves dispatch, answering phones calls, taking messages and relaying them appropriately. Appropriate routing of paperwork and requisition for patient care is essential.

Requirements

  • TEAM ADVANCED: Techniques for Effective Aggression Mgt (Within 6 months of hire or transfer)
  • Basic knowledge of personal computer for inputting patient data.
  • Organizational and time management skills needed to prioritize daily workload.
  • Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must be done annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
  • Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of radiology practices, policies, and procedures and medical terminology as normally acquired through 1-year experience working in a Medical Center or similar setting preferred.
  • One (1) year experience in patient transport/care and dispatch services preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates patient flow through all transportation services and radiology services by scheduling and dispatching.
  • Performs appropriate tasks on computer systems including order entry (RIS and Cerner), and film management functions (RIS) and PACS. Monitors nurse call system for discharges.
  • Process telephone calls for messages; transport needs, prep instructions, and service coordination with appropriate follow through.
  • Problem resolution, trouble shooting of systems and processes, training others, and maintaining skills.
  • Demonstrate competency in Microsoft® Windows.
  • Participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
  • All other duties as assigned.
