About The Position

Provides direct patient care as assigned, including performing electrocardiograms. May involve accessing medication storage areas and administering non-prescription medications. Responsibilities include accurate, timely, and safe patient care, effective communication with personnel, patients, and families, maintaining accurate documentation, safe and appropriate use of equipment and supplies, ordering supplies, correct specimen labeling, performing basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, multiple treatments, waived testing, transporting patients, and performing EKGs. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
  • Successful completion of tech training course as evidenced by Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) exam or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) course or nursing fundamentals from accredited organization required.
  • Successful completion of an EKG course for portable EKG preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Training acceptable.
  • One (1) year nurse tech hospital experience or skilled nursing facility is required if the candidate does not meet all of the educational requirements.
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Patient care skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous CNA/CMA experience preferred.
  • Previous NT experience preferred.
  • Six (6) months EKG experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of an EKG course for portable EKG preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care as assigned.

  • Performs responsibilities accurately, timely, and safely for assigned patients/area.
  • Communicates and informs appropriate personnel, patients and family members of pertinent information in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate paper and electronic documentation.
  • Utilizes equipment and supplies safely and appropriately; orders supplies as needed; labels specimens correctly.
  • Performs basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, multiple treatments, waived testing and transports assigned patients.
  • Performs EKGs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
