About The Position

The Patient Support Representative - Outpatient Rehab - Per Diem role is responsible for reviewing and analyzing patient demographic information, verifying benefits, determining eligibility, obtaining pre-certifications, and supporting timely reimbursement. This position involves performing pre-certification notifications and documenting required information for insurance carriers. The representative will also research pre-certification denials and confirm referral requirements, working with referring physician offices as needed. A key aspect of the role is utilizing the electronic medical record task-based work queue to meet established productivity metrics.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Valid driver’s license and appropriate auto insurance required if performing duties at an off-site location.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in business or healthcare preferred.
1–2 years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or customer service experience preferred.
Knowledge of health insurance, medical terminology, and anatomy preferred.
Strong data entry, keyboarding, and Microsoft Office skills preferred.

Responsibilities

Reviews and analyzes required patient demographic information.
Consults representatives, providers, and insurance carriers to verify benefits, determine eligibility, obtain pre-certifications, and support timely reimbursement.
Performs pre-certification notification via telephone or electronically and completes required documentation for submission to insurance carriers per payer requirements.
Researches pre-certification denials including missing authorization, patient pre-certification or referral documentation.
Confirms referral requirements for individual plans and works with referring physician offices when needed to obtain referrals for scheduled services, including referrals for additional office visits.
Utilizes the electronic medical record task-based work queue to maintain established productivity metrics determined by the Rehab Services department to meet business needs.
