About The Position

As a Patient Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our patients. You will work collaboratively with nurses and other healthcare staff to provide essential non-clinical support, maintain a clean and organized patient environment, and assist with various patient care tasks.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED, required.
1 year of related experience and/or training and previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role, preferred.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree in health administration, preferred.
Certified Nursing Assistant from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), preferred.

Responsibilities

Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
Helping patients with mobility, including transferring and positioning in bed or chairs.
Providing emotional support and companionship to patients, actively listening to their needs and concerns.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable patient environment.
Changing bed linens and ensure rooms are tidy and well-organized.
Stocking and maintaining supplies in patient rooms.
Communicate effectively with nursing and medical staff to report any changes in a patient's condition or needs.
Assisting with patient documentation and record vital signs when necessary.
Safely transporting patients to various areas within the hospital, including diagnostic tests and procedures.
Adhering to hospital safety and infection control policies and protocols.
Assisting in the implementation of fall prevention measures.
Encouraging patients to participate in activities and therapies as directed by healthcare professionals.
Promoting a positive patient experience through empathy and support.
