Prairie Lakes Healthcare System is an independent, non-profit rural healthcare system serving 10 counties in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota. This full-time(1.0 Status or 40 hours per week) position collects and verifies all patient demographic and financial information while adhering to ethical and legal standards and recognizing and responding to emergencies while demonstrating professional characteristics. Provides clerical support to ensure that the daily functions of the Cancer Center are carried out in an organized manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service while greeting, welcoming patients, answering the telephone, screening, and routing calls appropriately in a courteous and prompt manner.
  • Registers and admits patients in Thrive/CPSI on both the clinic and hospital side as well as the Mosaiq system, by obtaining relevant patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Directs patients and visitors to the desired destination.
  • Coordinates copy requests with internal copy service.
  • Takes new patient referrals.
  • Requests authorizations for IHS, VA, and primary care providers for Medicaid.
  • Maintains lists of patients needing monthly itemized statements for Aflac.
  • Prints off and mails statements monthly to patients for their cancer policies.
  • Collects and posts payments for services provided.
  • Sorts, reviews, and distributes daily mail to appropriate staff.
  • Orders patient nutritional services supplies as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
