The Patient Sitter is responsible for continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients through a non-recording video monitoring system. This role involves observing potentially life-threatening risk behaviors, monitoring the patient environment for safety hazards, and participating in hand-off information and patient behavior issues to the next shift. The position requires basic computer and Microsoft Office skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize, and the capacity to maintain discretion and confidentiality. The Patient Sitter will interact closely with nursing staff, medical staff, patients, and other hospital departments. The work is demanding, requiring the ability to monitor multiple patients simultaneously, and essential communication skills for interacting with patients and staff. The position is subject to varying indoor temperature changes and may involve working in areas with exposure to bloodborne pathogens and bio-waste hazards.
