Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
  • BLS (AHA) certification required at time of hire and remain current.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the patient’s bedside sitter maintains constant visual observation of assigned patient.
  • Assists in the provision of a safe and clean environment.
  • Communicates observations of the patient’s activity and behavior on a regular basis to the assigned nurse.
  • The sitter can also function as a virtual safety sitter, who will provide continuous remote observation of assigned patients.
  • The virtual tele sitter will verbally redirect the patient from engaging in any at risk behaviors and will notify the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
  • In both capacities, the sitter will communicate in a professional manner and demonstrates respect for patient, families/significant other and other health care members as well as abide by patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
