About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for providing caring and compassionate customer service to ensure an excellent patient experience. This role requires exemplary interpersonal skills to interact with patients and families in sensitive situations, along with critical thinking and decisive judgment in a fast-paced environment. The specialist must be able to work cohesively within a team and independently with minimal supervision. Key duties include managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection, and cash receipting, as well as arrival and/or departure desk activities, all while maintaining accuracy and an outstanding patient experience. The role also involves encouraging patient utilization of front-end technology during registration, entering and maintaining confidential and accurate patient information (including insurance, billing, and payment details), assisting with billing functions or directing to the appropriate office, and demonstrating proficiency in emergency codes and relevant healthcare regulations. Additionally, the specialist monitors inventory and stock of medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Computer experience required
  • Customer relations experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Medical Records Software preferred
  • Front desk practice experience preferred

  • Enters and maintains confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter
  • Assists billing functions accurately and/or directs to appropriate billing office
  • Demonstrates proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations
  • Monitors inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment
