About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for the front-end business operations for the assigned clinic including patient registration, verification of patient demographic information, and creating and maintaining patient electronic charts. This position answers incoming calls to the clinic and routes them as needed, and schedules intake appointments within established timeframes in the CBI EHR/EPM scheduling system. It obtains necessary demographic information including, but not limited to: name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and insurance information. This position regularly interacts with current and potential patients, family members of people receiving services, as well as community stakeholders and will require excellent communication and customer service skills. It completes insurance verifications for each patient visit and identifies any patient amounts due at the time service is provided. For uninsured patients, it identifies any potential funding source, and identifies those potentially eligible for AHCCCS and refers to the eligibility and enrollment specialist for AHCCCS screening and application. It notifies a clinical team member when registration is completed for services to be completed. It schedules follow-up appointments for clinic services as indicated by the clinical team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of AHCCCS
  • Knowledge of insurance
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Healthcare
  • 1-3 years of experience with insurance verification
  • 1-3 years of experience with front desk in a medical office setting
