About The Position

The Patient Services Representative (PSR) at MIT Health is responsible for managing patient flow and appointment scheduling. This role involves significant patient interaction, both in person and over the phone. Key duties include front desk operations such as check-in, collecting copayments, and verifying insurance eligibility. The PSR also handles administrative tasks like making phone calls, data entry, conducting insurance reviews, filing, and scheduling appointments and procedures. This involves coordinating care within and across different providers, service areas, and healthcare facilities. The role requires effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including referral providers and practices, to manage complex patient needs. Ultimately, the PSR is expected to provide excellent customer service that supports departmental operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a customer service or administrative role.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, clinicians, and other professional staff in a pleasant, calming, and diplomatic manner.
