About The Position

As member of the mobile Care and Connect or Response clinic team, the Patient Services Representative works with a team of healthcare professionals at mobile clinics across counties within Washington or Oregon states to reach high-risk and underserved populations with emergency dental, medical screenings. This position provides administrative support to clients and Medical Teams Mobile Unit staff as patients are connected to medical and dental care homes. The person in this position will be required to follow best practices for PPE usage, HIPAA, OSHA, and hygiene protocols.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers, certification for Blood Borne Pathogens and HIPAA as required by law (may completed upon hiring).
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with data entry.
  • Minimum 6 months' experience working in administration, customer service, or a healthcare setting .
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
  • Commitment to Medical Teams International Calling Statement and Core Values.
  • Interest in learning and utilizing the principles of trauma-informed practice and culturally responsive care.
  • Comfortable using technology and moderately skilled with Microsoft Office 365 suite (including Outlook email and calendar), Teams, and/or other electronic health record platforms, as well as vaccine administration and inventory management.
  • Understanding of infection, prevention and control measures, policies and processes.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Ability to rapidly learn new computer programs and technologies.
  • Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment, under changing conditions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
  • Background in public health, health education, nursing, health services or related fields.
  • Experience in care coordination or managing referrals and follow-up care for high-risk populations.
  • Experience working with electronic health records systems.
  • Bilingual ability with English- and Spanish-speaking partners and patients preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct patients at the mobile clinic.
  • Inform patients about delays and wait times.
  • Complete patient intake, registration, and appointment scheduling in the electronic record system(eClinical). May include supervising volunteers as they complete patient intake procedures.
  • Collect and verify patient information, including insurance information and demographics, and ensure all required information is documented in the electronic health record system (eClinical), including health history, consents, and any required paperwork.
  • Assist with care coordination and patient referrals, including scheduling patients for follow-up appointments and coordinating services for patients with community partners.
  • Monitor UniteUs and OHP referral platforms and manage referrals and open cases.
  • Ensure each client receives thorough and culturally appropriate care and education.
  • Facilitate and coordinate that all clients have been thoroughly screened prior to vaccine administration or testing, and all care is accurately documented.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Infection, Prevention and Control measures, policies and procedures, ensure no cross contamination occurs.
  • Follow strict and meticulous donning and doffing procedures for required PPE.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and biohazard following organizational policies.
  • Assist with clinic set-up, tear-down, and sanitation under the supervision of the Clinic Manager.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all clients.
  • Support staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Support safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies. Incumbents will remain alert and responsive to any child and adult safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child and adult safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding code of conduct and behavior expectations.
  • Utilize volunteers when appropriate.
  • May assist with answering and triaging patient phone calls.
  • May assist clients with insurance navigation and enrollment.
  • May assist with data entry and documentation of vaccines in the state immunization information system.
  • May assist with Quality Assurance projects.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
