The Patient Services Representative performs general business office functions that may include charge capture and over-the-counter payment posting; insurance verification and eligibility; insurance pre-authorization/pre-certifications; and counseling patients and families on insurance and payment issues prior to surgery. This role ensures all insurance, demographic, and eligibility information is obtained from patients and entered into the billing system accurately and timely. The representative registers patients, collects and revises all patient insurance information, and collects co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket amounts at the time of service. Additionally, they post approved adjustments to patient accounts, balance receipts, reconcile daily work batches, and prepare an audit trail.
