The position also involves gathering charge information, coding, entering into a database, completing the billing process, and distributing billing information. Filing insurance claims, assisting patients with insurance forms, and processing unpaid accounts by contacting patients and third-party payers are key duties. The role acts as a liaison between the patient and medical support staff, greeting patients and visitors courteously, checking them in, verifying insurance information, and obtaining necessary signatures. Responsibilities include assisting patients with ambulatory difficulties, maintaining appointment schedules, providing front office phone support, screening visitors, and responding to routine information requests. The role is also responsible for gathering, accurately coding, and posting outpatient charges, processing payments, researching address verification, and helping to process mail returns and outgoing statements. Acquiring billing information for all doctors for all patients seen in practice, performing cashiering functions, preparing daily cash deposits, and receiving payments are also part of the job. Coding and posting payments, maintaining records, and working with patients on prepayment sources or financial agreements are essential. The position involves assisting with outpatient coding and error resolution, processing edits and customer service requests, identifying trends, and communicating problems to management. Updating patient account databases, maintaining physician schedules, scheduling surgeries and appointments, answering patient questions, and assembling patient charts are also required. The role involves updating patient profiles, overseeing the waiting area, coordinating patient movement, and assisting patients with questions regarding insurance claims, disability benefits, home health care, medical equipment, and surgical care. Processing benefit correspondence, signature, and insurance forms to expedite payment, assisting patients in completing forms for hospitalization or surgical pre-certification, and following up with insurance companies to ensure coverage approval are crucial. Posting all actions, maintaining permanent records of patient accounts, answering patient questions about their accounts, confirming workers’ compensation claims, and preparing disability claims are also part of the duties. The role involves following up with insurance companies to ensure claims are paid, maintaining files with referral slips, medical authorizations, and insurance slips, and researching information to complete the outpatient billing process. Keying charge information into an on-line entry program, processing and distributing billings, and pulling/filing charts are also required. The position involves collecting payments at the time of service, reviewing accounts for timely payments, performing collection actions, evaluating patient financial status, and establishing payment plans. Recommending accounts for collection agency assignment, identifying and resolving patient billing complaints, and following up on accounts until zero balance are also responsibilities. The role participates in educational activities, gathers and verifies superbills, enters charge and payment information, prints and verifies daily reports, and backs up computer files. Registering new patients, updating financial information, and maintaining strict confidentiality are essential.
