Patient Services Representative (PSR) - Thoracic Surgery Clinic
About The Position
The Patient Services Representative (PSR) plays a vital role in the care team, supporting providers, connecting with patients, and ensuring a seamless, compassionate experience. As a key member of the ambulatory care team, the PSR is responsible for providing efficient, high-quality service to patients, managing billing services by ensuring accurate entry of billing information and follow-up on missing information, and upholding standards for accurate and timely medical records. This role is crucial for maximizing revenues by collecting payment at the time of service and entering accurate billing information into the patient accounting system, while also assisting clinical staff in maintaining accurate medical records.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One to two years related customer service experience
- Experience handling difficult caller/customers/patients.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in the healthcare industry a plus
Responsibilities
- Provides efficient, high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments or who telephone or visit in person to request appointments or information on tests and procedures, bills and charges, referrals, and other matters.
- Ensures entry at time of service of billing information on the patient and payer and accurate follow-up on missing information.
- Upholds standards of the practice and of the medical group for accurate and timely medical records.
