About The Position

The Advanced Patient Services Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic practice by managing patient interactions, administrative tasks, and providing exceptional customer service. This position requires a high level of professionalism, communication skills, and the ability to handle a variety of responsibilities efficiently. Mercy's Heart Hospital Clinic is seeking a Patient Services Representative to serve as the first point of contact for our patients and play a key role in delivering an outstanding patient experience. In this fast-paced and rewarding role, you'll combine your customer service expertise, organizational skills, and attention to detail to help ensure smooth daily clinic operations while supporting both patients and clinical staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical office, healthcare, or customer service experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and billing procedures
  • Experience with Epic or electronic health records systems

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist patients with professionalism, compassion, and courtesy
  • Check patients in and out, verify demographic and insurance information, and schedule appointments
  • Answer incoming calls and assist patients with questions and appointment needs
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records and patient documentation in Epic
  • Coordinate testing, procedures, and referrals while providing cost estimates and good faith estimates in compliance with the No Surprise Billing Act
  • Manage work queues, registration corrections, accounts receivable activities, and patient payment plans
  • Communicate effectively with providers, staff, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care
  • Resolve patient concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Balance and reconcile daily cash drawer transactions
  • Support clinic operations through general clerical duties including scanning, faxing, copying, and handling correspondence
  • Champion new initiatives, workflow improvements, and Epic system updates
