The Patient Services Representative (PSR) coordinates schedules of patients in an outpatient clinic and provides clerical assistance toward the smooth operation of the facility. This position may be filled as a Patient Services Representative Level 1 or 2, depending on individual experience, expertise, and qualifications. The PSR is responsible for scheduling patient appointments, providing information about clinic operations, obtaining and updating patient demographics, answering telephone calls, coordinating schedules for patients requiring multiple services, greeting patients, accepting payments, distributing and inspecting encounter forms, ensuring necessary signatures, copying and uploading insurance cards into the EMR, balancing and closing the cash drawer daily, preparing ancillary forms, promoting the Patient Portal, pulling and filing patient charts, copying medical records, creating new patient charts, discussing financial accounts with patients, verifying insurance eligibility and primary care physicians, securing referrals for HMO patients, collecting and verifying proof of income for sliding scale discounts, and monitoring and acting on WQs in EMR for Referrals. The position also includes performing other duties as assigned.
