About The Position

This role involves collecting specimens, researching test/client information, performing data entry, processing specimens, and handling clerical duties. The position requires adherence to departmental policies and procedures, maintaining logs, and completing training to stay updated on phlebotomy techniques and company communications.

Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.

  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
  • Must demonstrate superior customer focus.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens and oral swabs.
  • Research test/client information and confirm/verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or directory of services.
  • Accurately complete all data entry requirements, including patient registration and test order entry.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
  • Process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture, to confirm tubes were labeled in their presence and the name is correct.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, such as maintenance and temperature logs.
  • Complete training courses and stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
  • Stay up-to-date on company communications.
