FamilyCare Health Centers is seeking a Patient Services/Ophthalmology Technician for their South Charleston Office. Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, eye diseases, and common treatment procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care and safety.
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of the front office and clinical area.
  • Register patients, including greeting, securing and entering accurate data, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and routing calls.
  • Process release of records to patients and other facilities.
  • Provide customer service by welcoming patients and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
  • Keep work area, waiting room, and patient restroom tidy.
  • Track no-shows and mail no-show letters.
  • Report daily numbers and perform TOS Manage for collections.
  • Verify and scan insurance cards.
  • Collect insurance copay and out-of-pocket amounts.
  • Assist with bank deposits.
  • Assist with Artificial Tears Drug reps for AT Supply.
  • Assist with medical clearance paperwork for Dr. Rashid surgeries.
  • Check-in and check-out patients, including verifying information, scheduling follow-up appointments, and collecting refraction fees.
  • Assist with all contact lens orders and trial contact lenses from manufacturers.
  • Assist with contact lens inventory.
  • Scan all forms, excuses, and documents for Dr. Rashid.
  • Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and assist with medication refills.
  • Complete all incoming and outgoing referrals.
  • Assist with dispensing contacts to CTL wearers.
  • Clean and disinfect all Ophthalmology machines.
  • Check clinic schedules daily for any changes for the following day.
  • Assist MD with any procedures as needed.
  • Delegate duties such as calling in medications into pharmacy and prepping charts.
  • Conduct preliminary tests like visual acuity, visual field testing, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) for ON, and Macula.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as applanation tonometry, refraction, retinoscopy, B-Scans, and AR.
  • Prepare examination rooms, assist with minor surgical procedures, and administer medications under doctor's supervision.
  • Explain eye care, treatment plans, and proper use of medications and contact lenses to patients.
  • Ensure all equipment is sterilized and operational.
  • Assist with patient flow and scheduling appointments.
  • May assist with ordering supplies.
  • Manage patient flow efficiently, ensuring minimal wait times and a smooth patient experience.
