About The Position

As the only independent and physician-led faculty practice plan of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, University Clinical Health (UCH) offers best-in-class clinical care through a network of 175+ providers across 19 specialties to meet the healthcare needs of the Mid-South community. UCH is a not-for-profit, non-tax-supported group practice and is here to serve the community while providing medical excellence to our patients. Responsibilities combine both administrative and clinical care services. This position can function as a Medical Office Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant and handles those duties accordingly. The multi-skilled role, includes appointment scheduling, greeting patients and visitors, registration for patients, updating demographic information, and receiving co-payments for the visit. Verifies patient information. Follows up with patients postoperatively, calls, and follows up on hospital orders. In addition may assist in procedures, order and stock supplies, process instruments, transport implants or other surgical equipment, autoclave instruments, schedule surgical cases, follow-up with other doctors' offices, and communicate and collaborate with co-surgeons. Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians. Prepares the examination room, draws blood as needed, takes patient vital signs, and records vitals in medical charts. Must be efficient with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Excellent communication skills are essential for this position. Ensures and maintains the confidentiality of patient information and other UCH business information per HIPAA and other compliance standards. Complies with the Code of Conduct and other established policies, including but not limited to compliance, quality, and safety. Acts under UCH’s mission at all times. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent Required
  • 2- 4 years of work experience in a medical setting Required
