About The Position

This role serves as the first point of contact for patients, acting as an ambassador of front-line service. The Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) Float Pool will provide front desk coverage at various Emory Physician Group Practice locations, requiring reliable transportation to commute between sites. The individual will independently manage front desk responsibilities, including scheduling, registration, copay collection, charge entry, referral management, and paperwork preparation. They will also maintain strong working relationships with administrative and clinical teams, contribute to patient satisfaction initiatives, and undergo cross-training in multiple administrative support functions. Proactive communication with patients regarding waits and delays, and identification of improvement opportunities are key. Professional attire, either a provided uniform or business professional, is expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and three (3) years of experience in Healthcare or customer service industry OR a Bachelor's degree required plus six (6) months of experience as a PSC I.
  • Internal candidates without 6 months PSC I experience will require a high school diploma/GED and 4 years of healthcare or customer service industry experience or a bachelor's degree and 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to various Emory Healthcare locations.
  • Availability to work an 8-hour shift Monday-Friday between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front desk coverage at a variety of Emory Physician Group Practice locations as a floater.
  • Greet and welcome all customers utilizing the EHC customer service model.
  • Assist with patient flow and coordinate a positive patient experience throughout the check-in process.
  • Independently complete front desk responsibilities including scheduling, registration, copay collection, charge entry, referral management, paperwork prep, and basic maintenance of office equipment.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with administrative and clinical teams.
  • Participate as a key contributor to the Press Ganey patient satisfaction initiatives within the department.
  • Undergo cross-training in multiple administrative support functions.
  • Support all front desks throughout Emory Physician Group Practice, M-F during business operating hours.
  • Proactively update patients on waits and delays.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and facilitate problem resolution.
