About The Position

Provides service to patients before, during, or post-appointment with minimal guidance. Facilitates efficient workflow, supports appropriate use of technology, and engages in effective communication. Navigates complex patients to include scheduling with multiple services or coordination with outside facilities or providers. The Pediatric Neurosurgery team at Monroe Carell is dedicated to providing exceptional care through a collaborative, family-centered approach. Our neurosurgeons bring years of specialized training in pediatric surgery and work alongside experts in pediatric cancer, neurology, neonatology, and family support services to deliver comprehensive care. Requirements

  • Relevant Work Experience
  • 1 year
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE (Intermediate): A continuing focus on the needs and requirements of customers, anticipating their needs, remaining sensitive to customers while performing services for them, responsive to customer needs.
  • PATIENT SCHEDULING (Novice): The ability to coordinate and schedule patient appointments, procedures and other office visits with various computer systems in the hospital or clinic.
  • PATIENT DOCUMENTATION (Novice): The ability to receive and record patient information.
  • MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY & DOCUMENTATION (Novice): The ability to comprehend medical terminology and APPOINTMENT & PRODECURAL SCHEDULING (Fundamental Awareness): The ability to coordinate and schedule diagnostic testing and procedures within various computer systems in the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently performs all Associate Patient Service Specialist job responsibilities.
  • Schedules appointments and procedures through clinical communication, work queues, and patient portal messages.
  • Manages registration and patient work queues.
  • Coordinates with patients and/or outside facilities to ensure all pre-appointment orders and consults have been received and ready to view prior to patient visit.
  • Communicates with patients through the patient portal using critical decision making to route appropriately as applicable.
  • Performs tasks that are typically routine that may impact team's performance with occasional guidance.
  • Utilizes some discretion and research to solve routine problems.
  • Applies knowledge of standards, established processes and procedure that apply to your own job.
  • Provides guidance to entry level co-workers.
  • Continuously improves own skills by identifying development opportunities.
