About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation Garland (Firewheel) is seeking a full-time Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to join their medical front office team. The role involves a variety of administrative and customer service tasks in a fast-paced environment. The hours vary between Monday - Friday, 7 am - 7 pm. The starting salary ranges from $18 - $25 per hour, based on experience. The company emphasizes work-life balance for its employees.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is required

Knowledge of insurance verification
Healthcare, medical, or dental office administration experience

Responsibilities

Check in and check out patients
Perform insurance verifications
Schedule patient appointments
Generate reports
Handle faxing and scanning
Perform other office duties
Coordinate patient appointments, working with the Center Manager to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence
Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete with signatures and accurate information documented in the electronic medical record
Verify patient insurance, obtaining required authorizations before patient visits and explaining benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies
Collect patient responsibility at each visit
Scan and maintain medical documents
Reconcile and post charges daily and perform other reporting to ensure clean claim processing
Respond to all requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians
Maintain office, order supplies, and manage mail
Willingness to adjust schedule to center needs
Travel to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage when necessary
Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs
